ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will depart the United Kingdom today for New York to participate in the 89th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

He is scheduled to address the General Assembly on 26 September, where he will outline Pakistan’s position on Palestine, Kashmir, climate change, economic challenges, and issues confronting developing nations.

Ahead of his speech, the prime minister will attend a summit on the two-state solution for Palestine on 22 September, where he will emphasize Muslim unity, reaffirm Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause, and urge global consensus against Israeli aggression.

During his stay, Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold meetings with US President Donald Trump, the UN Secretary-General, various world leaders, heads of Islamic states, and representatives of international organizations.

The prime minister will leave New York on 27 September and is due to return to Pakistan via the United Kingdom on 29 September.
