ISLAMABAD: The inflation storm has intensified before Eid and after the increase in the prices of petroleum products, ghee and cooking oil have also become expensive, which has increased the problems of the people.

The prices of food and beverages in the city’s open market are already at a high level, however, in recent days, the price of grade II ghee and cooking oil has increased by another Rs 20 per kilogram.

According to traders, after the new prices, grade II ghee and cooking oil are being sold for up to Rs 545 per kilogram.

Shopkeepers say that due to the increase in the prices of petroleum products, transport costs have increased, which is also affecting the prices of other essential commodities. That is why the prices of ghee and cooking oil have increased.

On the other hand, citizens have expressed serious concern over rising inflation, saying that the domestic budget is being badly affected by the increase in food prices near Eid.

Citizens say that it has already become difficult to live due to inflation and now the problems have increased with further price increases.

The people have demanded that the government take immediate steps to control inflation and ensure monitoring of prices in the open market so that relief can be provided to the citizens.
