ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved important legislative measures , approval of a vital appointment and civil awards and special prisoner sentence reductions.
The approved legislation includes Pakistan Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2026 Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) Amendment Bill 2026 Zakat and Ushr (Amendment) Bill 2026 National Archives (Amendment) Bill 2026 Pakistan Names and Emblems (Prevention of Unauthorized Use) Amendment Bill 2026 Associated Press of Pakistan Corporation (Amendment) Bill 2026 Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (Amendment) Bill 2026 Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Amendment) Bill 2026 and the Danish University Islamabad Bill 2026.
The president approved Aijaz Aslam Dar to become a Federal Public Service Commission member who will represent the Balochistan region.
The government recognized Professor Sarwar Muhammad Khawaja Rashid Malik and Zain-ul-Abideen Ahsan through civil awards which they will receive as the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award.
The president authorized special prisoner sentence reductions which will take effect on Eid-ul-Fitr and Pakistan Day 2026.
President Zardari approves cancellation of Pakistan Day parade and events for austerity
Earlier, the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has approved the cancellation of the Pakistan Day parade and all related events scheduled for the 23rd of March, 2026. This decision has been taken in compliance with the recommendations of the government regarding austerity measures and energy conservation.
It is reported that the government had recommended the cancellation of the parade and all related events. This decision is a part of the government’s efforts to avoid unnecessary expenses and utilize the resources of the country in a responsible manner. The decision has been approved by the President of the country in the form of a summary sent by the government.
In a statement, the President of the country stated that the careful and responsible use of the country’s resources is the responsibility of every citizen of the country. This decision is a part of the government’s efforts to avoid costs and promote sustainability in the country. In addition to this, the awards ceremony, which is held on the occasion of Pakistan Day, will take place on the 28th of April, 2026.
