Pakistan Peoples Party has formally nominated Amjad Hussain Advocate as its candidate for the slot of Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on Saturday.
Amjad Hussain, is also serving as the provincial president of the PPP in Gilgit-Baltistan. This decision marks a significant political development within the party’s regional strategy, reports say.
For the first time the PPP has nominated a leader from the Gilgit region for the Chief Minister’s office. The decision reflects growing internal support for local leadership in the region.
In the recent Gilgit-Baltistan elections, the PPP emerged as the largest party. The party secured 9 seats, strengthening its position in the regional assembly. With this numerical advantage, the PPP is now in a strong position to form the government.
The nomination of Amjad Hussain is expected to play a key role in upcoming political negotiations and government formation in Gilgit-Baltistan. The formation of the new government has reached its final stage as the PPP has officially nominated party president and newly elected GBA-1 Gilgit member Amjad Hussain Advocate for the position of Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to political sources, consultations between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and Pakistan Muslim League N regarding key constitutional positions and government formation have been completed.
The PPP and IPP will jointly form the government, while PML-N will support the election of the Chief Minister, Speaker and other constitutional offices.
