The Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) has published a list of 38 fake nursing colleges on its website. This list includes five colleges from the federal capital, 25 from Punjab, five from Sindh, and two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Nursing Council has informed parents and students that degrees obtained from unregistered or fake institutions will not be recognised. The registration and inspection process for colleges has been stalled due to an ordinance issued by the President of Pakistan regarding the reorganisation of the Nursing Council.
There is a severe shortage of qualified nurses in the country. The Nursing Council states that there are 755 registered institutions nationwide; however, there is a gap in terms of both the quality and quantity of nurses being produced.
The complete list of fake colleges is available on the Nursing Council’s website. In Islamabad, the fake institutions include the Capital College of Nursing and Medical Health, Edward College of Nursing, National Institute of Modern Languages and Sciences, The Institute of Health Sciences, and Unique Technical and Professional.
From Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mardan College of Nursing and Orbit College of Nursing and Allied Sciences from Swabi are listed as fake.
In Karachi, three colleges, Aman Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing, Media Aid School of Nursing, and Pre Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences, have also been declared fake. Additionally, the College of Nursing in Hyderabad and the Kainat Institute of Nursing in Khairpur are included in this list.
In Punjab, the following colleges have been declared fake: Midcare College of Nursing in Attock, Halal Nursing and Midwifery School in Faisalabad, and Professional Studies Institute of Nursing. The Professional College of Nursing in Gujranwala and Punjab Nursing Academy in Jhang are also on the list.
Moreover, Boston International College of Nursing, Mohammedan College of Nursing, and Quaid-e-Azam Institute of Medical Sciences in Lahore are included as well.
In Rawalpindi, fake institutions include Brilliant Institute of Sciences and Technology, City Institute of Medical Sciences, EDU Zone Education of Knowledge, Falah Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Institute of Professional and Technical Studies, Marah Institute of Medical Sciences, Pearl Institute, Saduzai Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, and Saviour Institute of Medical Sciences.

Lastly, Sahiwal’s Best College of Nursing and Midwifery and Pak International College of Nursing are also considered fake, along with King Abdullah College of Nursing in Sargodha and Iqra College of Nursing and Mother and Child Home College of Nursing in Sialkot.
