PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) women MNA from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Saturday expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation and the rise in terrorist incidents across the province.

Speaking at a joint press conference at Islamabad, the KP PML-N MNA Samar Haroon Bilour, MNA Dr Shaista Jadoon and MNA Ghazala Anjum alleged that the poor governance in KP has exposed the incompetence of PTI-led government there.

Referring to PTI’s long march, Samar Bilour said that the people of KP, who had already suffered immensely on account of terrorism, could not endure more lawlessness in the province. She said that there had been bad governance in the province for the last 13 years. “There is no family in KP which has not lost its loved one in incidents of terrorism,” she said, adding that even her family members fell prey to terrorism.

She stressed the need for devising a well-coordinated strategy against terrorism. “At the same time, there is a need to console the families of those who have lost their lives in these incidents,” she asserted. She said it was unfortunate that the KP government ministers did not attend funeral prayers for the martyrs. The PML-N leader said that family members of victims of terrorism must be properly looked after because they had to go through lot of pain and agony.

During PTI’s 13-year rule in the province, reports by independent institutions indicate that over forty-six thousand people have lost their lives due to terrorism, she said. MNA Ghazala Anjum emphasized that safeguarding the lives and property of the public should be the top priority of the KP government. She criticized KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi for prioritizing agitational politics and long marches over public safety.

MNA Dr Shaista Jadoon stressed that the youth of KP deserve a bright career and a secure future rather than “container politics”. The PTI provincial leadership should step down if it cannot fulfil its fundamental duty of ensuring good governance and providing security to the people of the province, she concluded.
