PESHAWAR: The Meteorological Department predicted hot and sunny weather in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and urged citizens to avoid sun exposure and heat stroke.
According to the Meteorological Department, today, Tuesday, the temperature in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was recorded at 35°C due to fog. The mercury reached 40°C in the afternoon, but the actual intensity felt like 41°C. The evening temperature is likely to be 34°C, and the minimum temperature at night is likely to be 29°C.
The sky will remain partly cloudy to clear. The heat will increase further tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23. It will be 32°C in the morning, 39°C in the afternoon, which will feel like 45°C with fog. The temperature will drop to 31°C at night.
According to medical experts, UV index 11 falls in the “extremely dangerous” category. Sun rays can be harmful to the skin and eyes from 11 am to 4 pm. Citizens have been advised to drink more water, wear light-coloured loose clothes, and cover their heads when going out.
Children, the elderly, and patients with heart and blood pressure issues have been advised to stay at home during the hot hours of the day. The Meteorological Department says that the temperature is likely to remain between 37°C and 42°C for the next 10 days. Chances of rain may increase to 20% after June 25.
