ISLAMABAD: Petrol pump owners have clarified that subsidised petrol under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme will only be available to vehicles that are registered in the government’s system and have a valid subsidy token.
The All-Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association urged consumers to follow the prescribed procedure and cooperate with filling station staff while availing the subsidy.
Association leader Noman Ali Butt said the subsidised fuel could only be issued for the vehicle registered against the token generated through the official system. Petrol stations, he added, were required to verify the vehicle before providing the discounted fuel.
He clarified that the subsidised petrol could not be transferred to another vehicle, including an unregistered car or motorcycle.
Butt also appealed to citizens not to pressure petrol station staff into providing subsidised fuel for vehicles other than those linked to their tokens.
According to the information shared by the association, more than five million people have registered for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme across the country.
Under the scheme, eligible registered consumers are being offered a Rs100-per-litre discount on petrol through a digital verification system at participating petrol stations.
