PESHAWAR (Kamran Ali Shah): The Peshawar Accountability Court has extended the physical remand of an accused arrested in a scam involving the embezzlement of billions of rupees in the name of a private land marketing company for six more days.

The accused was produced before the Accountability Court in Peshawar.

Accountability Court Judge Hamid Mughal heard the case. NAB Special Prosecutor Habibullah Baig and the investigation officer were also present in court during the hearing.

According to the NAB prosecutor, the accused, Abdul Waheed Butt, collected huge amounts of money from innocent members of the public in the name of private land marketing.

The prosecutor said that the accused received Rs 3.73 billion from 1,616 people. The affected individuals filed complaints with NAB, after which action was taken.

The NAB prosecutor told the court that the accused had made some important revelations during the investigation and that further investigation was required; therefore, the physical remand should be extended.

The court, accepting NAB’s request, extended the physical remand of the accused for another six days and ordered that he be handed over to NAB again.
