PESHAWAR (Kashif Aziz): The Peshawar administration on Sunday sent 66 Nanbai behind bars and warned 42 others over fleecing consumers during Eidul-Azha.
The Peshawar administration issued a statement on Sunday regarding a crackdown on underweight Nanbais during Eid-ul-Azha. As a result, 66 bakers were arrested, and 42 were warned.
The district administration conducted inspections of over 200 bakeries in Peshawar, taking action in various areas, including Nishtarabad, Qissa Khawani, and Hayatabad.
They reviewed the weight of roti and enforced official price lists, carrying out legal action on the spot against violators.
The Deputy Commissioner of Peshawar said the administration is committed to ensuring that citizens receive roti at the prescribed weight and price during the Eid holidays. He stated that efforts will continue against those who are profiting unlawfully and selling underweight roti, stressing that there will be no compromise on public rights. The district administration aims to provide maximum relief to the public.
