PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has declared Saturday and Sunday as working days to accelerate and strengthen its electricity bill recovery operations, according to an official notification.
PESCO said it has formally decided to ensure the achievement of its electricity dues recovery targets for the fiscal year 2026-27.
Under the notification, all PESCO operational field offices will remain fully functional on Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27, with staff assigned to special recovery operations.
To meet the recovery targets, PESCO has directed all Superintending Engineers to establish special recovery teams in their respective circles. Executive Engineers (XENs) and Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) will personally lead the operations in the field.
Supervising officers have also been instructed to submit daily reports on recovery operations and progress carried out over the weekend to PESCO’s Chief Commercial Office.
PESCO management has directed all Superintending Engineers to ensure that recovery operations against electricity theft and consumers with outstanding dues are carried out as efficiently and swiftly as possible.
PESCO to Pay Welfare Grant with Monthly Pension
Meanwhile, to make welfare grant payments easier for beneficiaries, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has ended the requirement for widow pensioners to claim the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) grant separately.
The grant will now be paid along with the monthly pension of widow pensioners, according to a notification issued by the PESCO on Friday. The Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) is a welfare programme that provides financial assistance and other benefits to eligible workers and their families.
Under the new PESCO system, the welfare grant for disabled and deserving children will also be paid along with the monthly salary of their guardian. This means guardians will no longer have to submit separate bills to receive the welfare grant.
PESCO officials said the decision was taken to reduce delas and unnecessary office procedures so that eligible beneficiaries can receive the grant without delay. The notification directed the concerned officials to submit the cases of widow pensioners and disabled children on time.
It further said that when pension and the welfare fund are released from different divisions, the concerned officials should complete the necessary process and ensure that both the pension and grant are paid through the same division.
PESCO management has directed all concerned officials to strictly follow the new instructions.
