ISLAMABAD: The pensions of retired employees will not be stopped solely because their Proof of Life Certificate could not be issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in September, an official has clarified.
To facilitate elderly pensioners, NADRA has been working with relevant institutions to issue Proof of Life Certificates for retired employees.
However, concerns had emerged among pensioners over whether their payments would be suspended if their certificates were not issued by NADRA during September.
Addressing the issue, NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shabahat Ali clarified that pensions would not be stopped on the basis that a pensioner’s Proof of Life Certificate had not been issued by NADRA.
He said the Government of Pakistan had already decided that the absence of a NADRA-issued Proof of Life Certificate would not, at present, be a reason to suspend a pensioner’s payments.

According to the official, the decision applies to retired personnel from the Pakistan Army and other armed forces, as well as retired employees of federal and provincial government institutions.
He further explained that the policy also covers retired employees of institutions that have not yet approached NADRA regarding the issuance of Proof of Life Certificates.
Therefore, pensioners whose certificates have not yet been issued should not face suspension of their pensions solely on this basis under the current government decision.
