Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to announce a test squad for the upcoming tour of the West Indies and England next week. The first test between Pakistan and West Indies will commence on July 25.
As per media reports. the national selection committee will hold its meeting next week to finalize names of the participating players for the WT and England. The national squad was not announced due to the fitness problems of the players.
Reports say that due to the fitness problems of the players, more players were called to the red ball camp. Abdullah Shafiq, Kamran Ghulam, Hamza Nazar, Rohail Nazir and Arafat Minhas joined the red ball camp. It is also expected that Muhammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel are likely to recover and be fit for the tour..
The players suffering from fitness problems included in the red ball camp will be assessed next week. After the assessment, the test squad will be announced. The red ball camp will also end with the announcement of the test squad.
Players have been called to back up Saud Shakeel and Muhammad Rizwan and they have not been dropped from the team. Ali Usman among the spinners is also a candidate to join the squad. The national team’s practice match in the West Indies is scheduled to begin on July 18, while the first Test is scheduled to begin on July 25.
