DUBAI: Pakistan Under-19 cricket team defeated India to win the U-19 Asia Cup 2025 for the first time in marking history.

In the ACC U-19 Asia Cup final held in Dubai, Pakistan set a target of 348 runs for India to chase.

Pakistan’s innings got off to a strong start, with opener Sameer Minhas delivering an outstanding performance that significantly contributed to the team’s total score. Minhas scored an impressive 172 runs off 113 balls, including 17 fours and 9 sixes. As a result, Pakistan amassed a total of 347 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Other key contributions came from Ahmed Hussain, who scored 56 runs; Usman Khan, with 35 runs; captain Farhan Yousuf, who added 19 runs; and Hamza Zahoor, who contributed 18 runs.

Notably, there was no handshake between the two team captains at the toss for the final match, nor was there a formal handshake during the trophy presentation photo.

By defeating India in the final, Pakistan claimed the Under-19 Asia Cup title. While Pakistan has previously won the ICC Under-19 World Cup twice, this marks their first victory in the Asia Cup. It’s worth mentioning that in 2012, both Pakistan and India jointly won the Under-19 Asia Cup.

This victory has brought joy not only to the players but to the entire nation, as it symbolises the growth and development of junior cricket in Pakistan.
