ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a comprehensive briefing for foreign diplomats on the evolving border situation with Afghanistan, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its national security.

In a statement released by the Foreign Office, Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch, during the presentation, pointed out the legitimate security concerns of Pakistan.

She affirmed that the country is continuing to be very strong in its commitment to protecting both its territorial integrity and national security amidst the ongoing difficulties at the border.

Furthermore, the Foreign Secretary, during the presentation, did not shy away from sending a very clear message to Afghanistan, asking that its government indicate for certain that its territory would not be a place for supporting cross-border terrorism or other activities that can potentially disrupt regional peace. The very statement declared, “Pakistan looks forward to the Taliban government meeting its international obligations made during the Doha talks.”

The spokesperson for the Foreign Office also commented on the recent pronouncements of the spokesperson of Afghanistan, calling upon them to deal with their domestic issues and not to be involved in matters that lie outside their jurisdiction. The statement finished off by saying, “Afghan spokespersons should pay attention to Afghanistan-related issues rather than intruding into areas that are not their authority.”
