According to Reuters, Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, remained in continuous contact overnight with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to advance negotiations.
Iran and the United States have received a proposal aimed at ending hostilities, which could come into effect as early as Monday and lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reports.
The framework, put together by Pakistan, was shared with Tehran and Washington overnight, the source added. It outlines a two-tier approach, beginning with an immediate ceasefire followed by negotiations on a comprehensive agreement to stabilise the situation.
