ISLAMABAD: At least 500 students from Bangladesh are set to join various universities in Pakistan during the initial stage of a new educational program. This action is a part of a significant agreement signed between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which aims to boost cooperation in the education sector between the two countries.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) sources have indicated that the students will receive scholarships for undergraduate education, which will be fully funded, to study in different universities of Pakistan in different cities. The scholarships would cover all expenses, provided the students are responsible for tuition as well as living costs.

A very limited number of HEC sources have revealed that several Bangladeshi students participated in the entrance tests held in the cities of Chittagong, Dhaka, and Rajshahi. The exams were conducted by HEC for selecting candidates for admission.

The scholarship program that bears the name of Allama Iqbal, the famous philosopher and poet, is anticipated to bring the two countries closer together and help not only the movement of students but also the mingling of cultures. The Pakistani officials were greeted warmly by the students from Bangladesh during the entrance exams and many of the students enjoyed taking pictures together.

The collaboration in education is regarded as a notable breakthrough that will help create a rich academic environment and make the exchange of youth between Pakistan and Bangladesh easier.
