TAROUBA: West Indies have set Pakistan a target of 211 runs to win the opening Test after being bowled out for 181 in their second innings on the fourth day of the match.
Mohammad Abbas of Pakistan was the leading bowler of the match for his team with his five-wicket haul to contain the hosts and give Pakistan a chance to win the game.
West Indies chose to bat after winning the toss and scored 311 runs in their first innings with Shai Hope making a brilliant knock of 94 runs, Kavem Hodge scoring 84, and Shamar Joseph getting 23 runs. For Pakistan, Mohammad Ali was the best bowler with his four-wicket haul, Mohammad Abbas taking three, Khurram Shahzad picking two, and Aamer Jamal with one wicket.
In response, Pakistan were bowled out for 282 runs with Shan Masood hitting a fine century of 109 runs while Imam-ul-Haq made 63 runs. Babar Azam could not make a notable contribution to the scorecard by managing only 23 runs.
West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup with a five-wicket haul, while Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach took two wickets each and Jayden Seales claimed one.
Needing to build a strong lead, West Indies struggled in their second innings and were bowled out for 181. Abbas led Pakistan’s bowling attack with a match-turning five-wicket spell, giving his side a realistic chance of chasing down the target.
Pakistan now require 211 runs to win the first Test, with the match set for a tense conclusion.
