ISLAMABAD: In response to the ongoing Gulf oil crisis and subsequent national austerity measures, the Government of Pakistan has officially decided that the traditional Pakistan Day Parade and associated ceremonial events will not be held on March 23, 2026.
According to an official announcement, the decision to cancel the large-scale military and civil parade is part of a broader framework to manage economic challenges while maintaining the dignity of the national occasion.
The day will instead be commemorated through simple flag-hoisting ceremonies at appropriate levels across the country.
The government emphasised that this measure is intended to align the nation’s resilience and commitment to the ideals of Pakistan Day with the current austerity requirements.
All ministries, divisions, and departments have been advised to observe the occasion in a solemn and respectful manner, ensuring that the essence of the day is preserved despite the scaled-down nature of the celebrations.
