The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan have agreed to sign a formal agreement on pre-immigration clearance for Pakistani nationals travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to the Interior Ministry, after the signing of the agreement, Pakistani nationals will not have to go through the lengthy immigration process upon arrival in the UAE. This decision was taken in a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a UAE delegation led by Director General of Customs and Port Security Ahmed bin Lahj Al Falasi.
According to Mohsin Naqvi, the immigration process of passengers will be completed in Pakistan before travel. He said that after the implementation of this system, Pakistani nationals will be able to exit the airport directly, like passengers of domestic flights, upon arrival in the UAE.
The Interior Minister said that this system will be introduced as a pilot project, the first phase of which will start from Karachi, but the start date was not given.
Mohsin Naqvi expressed hope that the new system will facilitate travel and improve the overall travel experience. The UAE delegation described the initiative as beneficial for both countries and assured cooperation in its implementation.
According to the statement, the relevant institutions will maintain mutual coordination to finalise the administrative and technical aspects of the pilot project.
