LAHORE: The government of Punjab on Monday rewarded a 14-year-old Taekwondo star, Ayesha Ayaz, who is hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swat district.

According to sources, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, 14-year-old taekwondo star Ayesha Ayaz from Swat, KP was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 300,000.

Provincial Minister for Sports Faisal Ayub Khokhar handed a cheque on behalf of the Sports Board Punjab and also personally awarded an additional Rs. 100,000. Ayesha Ayaz is Pakistan’s youngest international taekwondo athlete, who at the age of just 14 has won 11 international medals and more than 150 medals at national and international levels, bringing pride to the country.

The provincial Minister for Sports termed Ayesha Ayaz a national pride and extended his best wishes for her bright future and for representing Pakistan at the Olympics, while Ayesha Ayaz thanked the Punjab Chief Minister and the Provincial Minister for Sports for their support.

Vice Chairman Malik Suleman and Secretary of Sports Muhammad Ali were also present at the ceremony.
