PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Muhammad Sohail Afridi has said that only Rs 168 billion have been released to KP by the centre, and Rs 532 billion are still due with it, but they are using delaying tactics.
According to a statement, KP Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi paid a visit to the economics department of the University of Peshawar on Thursday. He was accompanied by ministers and university officials.
KP Chief Minister, on the occasion, directed the Vice Chancellor of Peshawar University to submit proposals for the financial self-sufficiency.
KP CM also promised to upgrade the computer lab of the Economics Department of the University of Peshawar. “Scholarships and financial packages for students will be included in the upcoming budget, Sohail Afridi adds.
He said the government was working on the internship policy, and students would get employment opportunities. CM Afridi also sought suggestions to provide food to students residing in Peshawar University hostels at concessional rates.
KP Chief Executive further said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa owed more than Rs 2200 billion to the centre under NHP, and 1375 billion of the merged districts owed Rs 100 billion annually to the merged districts.
Mr Afridi added that only Rs 168 billion had been released during the last seven years. However, Rs 532 billion were still outstanding with the centre.
