PESHAWAR: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued a detailed travel advisory due to dense fog affecting parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh. This fog significantly reduces visibility on national highways and motorways.

An NHMP spokesperson reported that extremely low visibility caused by heavy fog dramatically increases the risk of accidents on major road networks. In severe conditions, certain sections of the motorway may be temporarily closed to ensure traveler safety.

Motorists are advised to plan and complete their journeys between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM and to avoid non-essential travel during nighttime when fog conditions typically worsen.

Drivers should use fog lights, ensure their windshield wipers are functioning properly, maintain a greater distance than usual from the vehicles ahead, and refrain from using high-beam lights, as these can further diminish visibility in foggy conditions.

The spokesperson also encouraged travelers to stay informed about the current road situation by contacting the NHMP helpline at 130, tuning in to FM 95 radio, or following NHMP updates on social media.

The NHMP emphasized that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains its top priority. Motorway police teams are on high alert 24/7, with all necessary measures in place to ensure public safety.
