The National Highway Authority (NHA) has issued an urgent travel advisory after severe weather disrupted traffic on key northern highways.

According to the NHA, the Babusar Highway has been closed for all types of traffic at Zero Point after flash floods hit the Thak area, making the route unsafe for vehicles. Authorities have advised tourists and other travelers to avoid the Babusar route and instead use the Karakoram Highway where possible.

However, traffic on the Karakoram Highway has also been temporarily suspended near Shang Nullah, close to Gonar Farm, after a loaded freight truck overturned and blocked the road.

To ease congestion, officials have stopped additional vehicles from entering the affected section through the Gonar Farm check post.

The NHA, in coordination with the Diamer district administration and rescue teams, has deployed heavy machinery to clear the overturned truck and restore traffic as quickly as possible.

Authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel on these routes until conditions improve and to follow all official advisories and instructions issued by the local administration.
