ISLAMABAD: A significant update has been announced regarding the fees for National Identity Cards (CNIC) and B Forms in various categories. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has outlined the new fee structure and processing times for these essential documents.

According to the details provided, possessing a National Identity Card is mandatory for numerous necessities, including obtaining a driving license, opening a bank account, acquiring a passport, and gaining admission to educational institutions.

According to the recent announcement, the first CNIC is free for Pakistani citizens. However, subsequent applications will incur the following fees: for the new smart card, normal applicants will pay Rs 750 with a processing time of 31 days, while urgent applicants will pay Rs 1500 with a processing time of 23 days. Executive applicants will pay Rs 2500, and the processing time will be 9 days.

For card renewal or replacement, normal applicants will be charged Rs 400, urgent applicants Rs 1500, and executive applicants Rs 2150. The fees for smart card renewals range from Rs 750 to Rs 2500.

For the Family Registration Certificate, applicants will need to pay Rs 1000, and the processing time will be 1 day for the Executive category. For the Child Registration Certificate and B Form, the fee for normal applicants is Rs 50, while for executive applicants, it is Rs 500.

Overseas Pakistanis are categorized into two zones for visa-free travel to Pakistan. For Zone A (America and Europe), the new NICOP fees are $39 for normal, $57 for urgent, and $75 for executive applicants. For Zone B (Middle East and Africa), the new NICOP fees are $20 for normal, $30 for urgent, and $40 for executive applicants.

NADRA has also introduced fees and procedures for changing age details on the Smart NICOP.

NADRA officials emphasized that the National Identity Card is no longer just an identity document; it is now directly linked to Pakistan’s healthcare and education systems. Without an ID card, it is impossible to track medical records or verify students in schools. This highlights the growing importance of these documents for various administrative functions.

Overseas Pakistanis can update their details through the ‘PakID’ app, a service designed to streamline the process for those living abroad. This new fee structure aims to make the documentation process more efficient while ensuring that necessary services remain accessible to all Pakistani citizens and overseas nationals.
