Police have arrested four individuals accused of fraud at the Afghan refugee holding camp near Hamza Baba Mazar in Tehsil Landikotal, Khyber District.

The Station House Officer (SHO) of Landikotal, Ishrat Shinwari, took immediate action upon receiving the information and apprehended the suspects: Ikram, Nihar Ali, Attaullah, and Noor Syed. A case has been registered against them.

The arrested individuals posed as staff members and illegally collected money from refugees under the guise of registration fees. According to SHO Shinwari, the registration process is entirely transparent, and there is no requirement to pay any bribes.

He urged refugees to wait for their turn and exercise patience. Additionally, he advised them to avoid giving money to anyone who is not authorized and to report any suspicious activity or requests for bribes to the nearest police station immediately.

On the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and district administration have established a modern transit camp in Landi Kotal, near Hamza Baba Mazar in Khyber district, to facilitate Afghan families returning to Afghanistan.

The camp has been set up to ensure an organized and dignified repatriation process for undocumented Afghan nationals residing across Pakistan. From the facility, families are transported to Afghanistan through the Torkham border.

According to officials, the transit camp is equipped with basic facilities including food, clean drinking water, medical services, washrooms, parking areas and designated waiting spaces for families.

Authorities have been directed to ensure that every family receives the necessary support during the process.
