ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has developed a digital platform to facilitate Pakistan Railways pensioners in obtaining their Proof of Life certificates, but the service is awaiting approval from Pakistan Railways.

NADRA has clarified that Pakistan Railways is better placed to explain the reasons behind the difficulties faced by its pensioners in obtaining the certificates.

The authority said the required technological infrastructure for the digital facility has been developed, which would enable pensioners to access the service once the necessary approval is granted.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that banks have no role in approving or updating the Proof of Life Certificate (POLC) used for pension-related matters.

Responding to a question during a NADRA podcast about what pensioners should do if their POLC is not accepted or updated by a bank or pension controller, a NADRA spokesperson said the process takes place directly between the pensioner and the relevant pension-disbursing authority.
