The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has closed Motorway M5 closed from Sher Shah to Zahir Peer due to poor visibility and fog.
Motorways and Highways Department’s spokesperson said motorway was closed for the safety of the commuters.
The travelers were advised that lane violations in fog can lead to dangerous accidents. Road users should strictly follow lane discipline. Urban residents should prefer traveling during daylight hours.
Syed Imran Ahmed, Spokesperson Motorway Police advised the citizen that during winter season, safe travel times in fog are from 10 am to 6 pm.
He said that drivers must use fog lights. He advised drivers not to resort to speed, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
The purpose of closing the motorway is to prevent accidents and protect the lives and property of motorway users.
Motorway police also advised to avoid speeding and keep a longer distance from the vehicle in front than usual.
