ISLAMABAD: According to reliable sources, the military’s top leadership has taken strict notice of a firing incident that took place at Sarhad University Islamabad.
Sources said a group of students was protesting at the university over matters related to the Head of Department, fees, and classes. During the protest, Head of Student Affairs Dr. Aina arrived at the scene to talk to the students, where she was allegedly misbehaved with by some agitated students.
Sources added that following the situation, Dr. Aina contacted her husband, who is an officer in the Pakistan Army, for assistance. When the said officer reached the university, some students allegedly misbehaved with him as well, after which an unpleasant incident occurred.
Sources said the military officer concerned has been taken into custody and disciplinary action has been initiated against him. According to sources, the Pakistan Army’s top priority is its disciplinary system, adherence to the law and justice.
Action will be taken in light of the inquiry report once it is made public. Sources further said that the army follows a policy of immediate, non-discriminatory and strict action against any kind of law violation. In the Sarhad University incident as well, action will be ensured in accordance with the law. Sources added that violation of the law at any level is against army policy, and action will be taken without discrimination.
