ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has reiterated that students must obtain at least 60 percent marks in FSc Pre-Medical or an equivalent qualification to be eligible for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes across the country.

In a recent clarification, the council dismissed reports circulating on digital media suggesting that the minimum academic eligibility criteria for medical and dental admissions had been relaxed.

“Current admission policy still demands a minimum of 60 percent marks in the intermediate level for the admission into both public and private medical/dental colleges,” PMDC clarified.

It is to be noted that while meeting the minimum marks requirement is important, it does not automatically ensure admission since there are other criteria as well which need to be fulfilled.

The PMDC’s announcement applies nationwide and confirms that the minimum 60 percent marks threshold remains unchanged for MBBS and BDS admissions.
