As a result of the prompt and effective action of the Kashmiri police, the law and order situation in Islamgarh and Chakswari has been completely brought under control.
According to the police spokesperson, the police took immediate action on reports of groups of protesters gathering at several places. The spokesperson said that the protesters were armed with stones, bottles, and sticks/rods at five different places in Islamgarh and Chakswari. The police dispersed all the gatherings through negotiations and action.
A total of 15 protesters were arrested during the operation, and weapons were also recovered from the possession of the arrested suspects. Police say that the investigation of the arrested persons is underway, and action will be taken against other persons involved.
The police have removed the obstacles from the main road and completely restored it for traffic. Additional police personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations in Islamgarh and Chakswari to maintain law and order and prevent any possible re-gathering.
The district administration has appealed to the citizens not to listen to rumours and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. The police are keeping a close watch on the situation, and those who disturb the peace will be dealt with an iron fist.
