PESHAWAR: Awami National Party Provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) future development should not be sidelined for the sake of a single prisoner, and the government must take ownership of the deteriorating situation in the province.

Addressing a party meeting in connection with the preparation for the death anniversary of Basheer Ahmad Bilour, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that the rulers talk about banning political activities, but the ANP has held rallies in every district, and all the rallies have been successful.

He said that the closure of trade routes with Afghanistan has also destroyed the limited business of Pakhtunkhwa, while the message of even worse conditions is being given to the people. Will only the Pakhtun people bear the brunt of all this? He said that whatever setup was established in Afghanistan is the result of the joint policies of Pakistan and America.

If those decisions are not in accordance with your interests now, it means that there are fundamental flaws in the previous policies. He said that this whole game is about dollars and the interests of world powers, and the region is once again being pushed towards a war of great powers.

What has been achieved in the forty-five years of war? We are fed up with war and demand peace. He said that the focus is on the release of only one prisoner, and neglecting the collective rights of the province is an injustice to the province and the people.

He said that the provincial government has completely failed to eradicate terrorism and establish peace. Finally, he said that better relations between the central and provincial governments are inevitable, because the people will not gain anything from tension.
