PESHAWAR: Candidates from the transgender community and religious minorities have shown significant interest in government employment opportunities under the special quota system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with authorities receiving more than 1,700 applications across various government departments.

According to official sources, over 500 applications have been submitted by transgender candidates, while more than 1,200 applications have been received from young candidates belonging to minority communities.

The verification and scrutiny process has begun, with authorities examining applications in accordance with the prescribed rules and merit criteria.

Sources said transgender applicants have also been required to submit medical certificates and other relevant supporting documents as part of the recruitment process.

Officials will review all applications to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements before the recruitment process moves forward.

The strong response is being seen as a positive sign of growing interest among transgender people and minority communities in securing employment in the public sector through the government’s reserved quota.
