PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has approved a house requisition allowance for employees from Grade-3 to Grade-22 working in the Civil Secretariat, Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Governor’s Secretariat.

A formal notification has been issued following the decision taken during a special meeting of the provincial cabinet held on June 19, 2026. The allowance will come into effect from July 1, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department, fixed monthly rates have been approved for employees in different pay grades. Employees from Grade-3 to Grade-6 will receive Rs6,000 per month, while those in Grade-7 to Grade-10 will receive Rs9,000.

The monthly allowance for Grade-11 to Grade-13 employees has been set at Rs13,000, while Grade-14 and Grade-15 employees will receive Rs16,000. Grade-16 employees will get Rs18,000, Grade-17 and Grade-18 officers Rs21,000, and Grade-19 officers Rs28,000 per month.

The allowance for senior officers has been fixed at Rs35,000 for Grade-20, Rs42,000 for Grade-21, and Rs52,000 for Grade-22 officers.

The Finance Department has imposed several conditions for eligibility. The allowance will be subject to income tax and will be provided in place of the existing house rent allowance. It will only remain applicable during the employees’ postings in the Civil Secretariat, Chief Minister’s Secretariat, and Governor’s Secretariat.

The notification clarified that the allowance will not be considered part of pension, gratuity, or commutation benefits.

Employees who have already been allotted official residences or are receiving house subsidies will not be eligible for the allowance. Similarly, employees working on deputation from other cadres, those awaiting posting, officials on extraordinary leave (EOL), and officers hired on contract or market-based salaries outside the National Pay Scale will also be excluded from the scheme.
