The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, giving great relief to thousands of provincial police personnel, has taken a final decision to pay the arrears of upgradation that have been pending since 2018. The Finance Department has issued instructions to the concerned authorities to immediately clear the bills of the officials’ dues.
The upgradation process of police personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was completed in 2018; however, despite the increase in grades, the officials had not been paid their financial dues and arrears for the last six years. The police personnel had approached the court against this delay.
After the clear orders of the Supreme Court, the IG Office has confirmed that the Finance Department has sufficient funds to pay these dues of the police personnel. According to the IG office, in light of the court order, all those officials who were waiting for the financial fruits of their promotions since 2018 will now be paid in installments.
The Finance Department has alerted all concerned District Accounts Officers and Police Finance Departments to complete the verification of bills on a priority basis and ensure the payments. This decision will benefit all those employees from constabulary to higher posts who were promoted under the 2018 notification.
Police officials have welcomed the decision and termed it a victory of justice, which is expected to boost the morale of the force.
