PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is under the grip of intense heat today as temperatures soar to 39°C to 41°C across the plains, with the Met Office warning of “feels like” temperatures reaching up to more than 40 degree due to high humidity.
According to weather reports, most districts of KP will remain mostly sunny and clear. However, isolated areas including Tall, Takht-E-Nasrati, and Lower Dir are likely to receive showers and thunderstorms with 40-60% rain chances.
Authorities have issued an extreme UV warning with the index hitting 11. Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure between 11 AM to 4 PM.
In contrast, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, and upper Swat valleys are experiencing rainy and cool conditions. Temperatures in the northern areas are hovering between 12°C to 24°C.Sharingal, Chitral, and Swat have a 60-90% chance of rain and thunderstorms today. Officials have cautioned travelers about possible slippery roads in hilly regions.
The heatwave in KP is expected to continue through the weekend with highs near 40°C. Light rain is forecast for KP by Monday night.
