ISLAMABAD: Journalist Hassan Ayub has claimed that the jewellery set worn by Mahnoor Safdar, daughter of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, appears to be a replica rather than the original set reportedly valued at $42 million.

In his posts on Instragram, Hassan Ayub said that the jewellery seen in photos differs from the original design, including the number of diamond rows and other details. He said the set appears to be a replica and suggested that lab-grown diamonds, zircon or other stones may have been used.

The reported $42 million valuation circulating online has not been independently verified, while the identity of the actual jewellery and its price remain unclear. Hassan Ayub made the remarks while discussing social media claims surrounding Mahnoor’s jewellery worn during her recent nikah. The extraordinary price tag has attracted considerable attention online, with some reports linking the jewellery to Lebanese luxury jeweller Mouawad’s “Le Soleil” collection.

According to Hassan Ayub, a close comparison of the jewellery seen in photographs with images of the original designer piece shows several differences. He pointed out that the original necklace has two rows of diamonds on its inner section, while the piece worn by Mahnoor appears to have only one.

In his vlog, Hassan Ayub also noted differences in the overall design, including the central stone and the outer petal-like details of the necklace. On this basis, he said the jewellery appeared to be a replica of the original branded piece.

Hassan Ayub further said that the jewellery could potentially contain lab-grown diamonds, zircon or other stones, but stressed that its actual composition and value could not be determined from photographs alone.

Hassan Ayub said that if the jewellery worn by Mahnoor is a replica, its price cannot be calculated using the reported value of the original designer set. He also said it remains unclear who gifted the jewellery to Mahnoor-given either by her mother, Maryam Nawaz, her father Captain Safdar or members of her in-laws’ family.

Mahnoor Safdar recently married Azaan Jabbar, son of industrialist Jabbar Khalid. Her bridal jewellery became a major talking point on social media following the release of photographs and videos from the ceremony.

At present, the identity, authenticity and actual market value of the jewellery worn by Mahnoor remain unclear, while the $42 million valuation continues to be reported as an unverified estimate rather than an independently established price.
