LAHORE: Jason Gillespie, the head coach of the Hyderabad Kingsmen in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), has clarified that there was no dispute with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and that his tenure as the national Test team coach ended amicably.
Gillespie used a media event in Lahore to address the current rumours about his Test coaching position, saying that he had reached positive results with the PCB organization. He explained that the process changed from Test coaching to board work without any existing problems between himself and the board members.
Gillespie, who currently trains with the Hyderabad Kingsmen for their PSL matches, talked about their progress while explaining the challenges faced by them in forming their best possible lineup. “We have only played one match so far, and it takes time to form the right combination,” he said. While expressing his happiness with the training methods of his team, he talked about the dedication shown by all his team members. “The players have been working incredibly hard, and I’m proud of their efforts. The team has used its PSL preparation period well, and all the players have shown their complete dedication towards their upcoming matches,” he said.
Gillespie acknowledged the efforts of PCB and various other organizations in resolving the issue of holding international cricket and T20 cricket in the same year. “It is a big challenge to organize international cricket and T20 tournaments in one calendar year but it is being done excellently.”
The Gillespie team will be playing their next match of PSL against Quetta Gladiators with their best players, as announced by Gillespie. He also proposed the inclusion of Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell in the team; however, the time of his arrival is not yet decided.
