The All India Students’ Association (AISA) and other progressive student organisations at Jamia Millia Islamia have staged protests against an RSS program titled “Yuva Kumbh” held on campus, strongly opposing its presence at the university.

In their statements, the groups allege that the RSS played no role in India’s freedom struggle and instead collaborated with British colonial rulers, questioning its claim of contributing to 100 years of nation-building.

They also criticised the Jamia administration for extending an open invitation to the RSS while allegedly denying permission to progressive groups to organise events focused on education, democracy, and constitutional values. Protesters claimed that the RSS promotes a communal agenda that is divisive and therefore has no place in Jamia Millia Islamia or any other educational institution.

During the protest, student organisations, including AISA, raised slogans and displayed posters opposing the event and its messaging, asserting that they would not allow such programs on campus. They reiterated that while freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for India’s independence, the RSS, according to them, acted contrary to the national movement.

Meanwhile, the Jamia administration has not issued any official response to the allegations or the ongoing protests. The situation on campus remains tense as demonstrations continue.
