ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police entered the National Press Club and tortured journalists who were covering the protest rally of Kashmir Action Committee activists.

Though the protest demonstration was underway outside the Press Club, when police entered the building of the National Press Club and harassed the working journalists who were busy with their routine assignments. Several journalists were injured and their cameras and mobile phones were damaged in a police baton charge.

President of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, Afzal Butt, said that the Police should first contact the office bearers of the National Press Club before entry to the premises. He said that the Islamabad police must explain their position on how they could torture a working journalist inside his press club building.

He strongly condemned this hooliganism of the Islamabad police and appealed to the Prime Minister to take action against the responsible police officers. He said that journalists will also stage a protest against this attitude of the police.
