PESHAWAR: Despite orders from the authorities concerned to reopen the M-1 Motorway, the route has not yet been fully restored as the clearance operation still continues.
An operation to clear the motorway and reopen it has been underway for the past six hours. However, authorities are facing difficulties due to barriers at different points, sources said.
They added that blockades are present at several locations on the motorway, while a large number of containers are also parked at different points.
Routes in front of several interchanges in Peshawar also remain blocked, affecting traffic flow. The Motorway Police are continuing efforts to remove the barriers and clear the routes.
Sources said the M-1 may take more time to fully reopen. It is worth mentioning that the M-1 Motorway was closed by erecting blockades at different points in view of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) march towards Islamabad on September 27. However, the march was postponed until October 5.
