Iran raised ‘Red Flag of Revenge’ on Jamkaran Mosque after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s Assassination and vowed that the martyrdom of Ali Khamenei would not goes in vain.
The country has been gripped by a wave of anger and outrage following the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the ‘Red Flag of Revenge’ has been raised on the dome of the historic Jamkaran Mosque in the holy city of Qom.
In Iranian tradition, the raising of the red flag signifies that bloodshed has yet to be avenged and is considered an open declaration of war or a signal of a major counterattack. The unusual move comes in response to recent attacks by the United States and Israel, which have brought the entire Middle East to the brink of a major war.
According to Iranian media, a three-member interim leadership council has been formed to take over the country’s governance after the Supreme Leader’s assassination, while Ayatollah Ali Reza Arafi has been given key administrative responsibilities until a new Supreme Leader is elected.
Large crowds have taken to the streets in Tehran and other cities, chanting “revenge.” International defense analysts say the raising of the red flag is clear evidence that Iran could now retaliate directly and on a large scale against Israel or US interests in the region at any time.
