MARDAN: The Insaf Lawyers Forum staged a strong protest at Assembly Chowk, Mardan against the disappearance of a fellow lawyer.
A large number of lawyers participated in the protest, holding placards and banners and chanting slogans for justice. The protesters blocked the Assembly Chowk for some time, which disrupted traffic.
Speaking on the occasion, the President of Insaf Lawyers Forum said that the disappearance of a lawyer in broad daylight raises serious questions about the law and order situation. He said lawyers are considered a pillar of justice, and if they are not safe, how can a common citizen feel safe?
They demanded Immediate and safe recovery of the missing lawyer. FIR should be registered against the responsible persons.
The district administration and police should provide security to the lawyers’ community.
The protesters warned that if the lawyer is not recovered within 24 hours, they will extend the scope of their protest to the whole Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and boycott court proceedings.
Police officials present at the spot assured the lawyers of full cooperation for the early recovery.
