Google has added an advanced and powerful artificial intelligence feature to its popular navigation service Maps, which will work without touching the device.
This feature, based on Gemini AI, was first introduced in November 2025 to provide users with hands-free navigation while driving. Initially, this feature was available only for drivers, but now it has been expanded and can be used in various ways. Gemini for Maps has now been introduced for pedestrians and cyclists as well, making this conversational navigation assistant helpful in all types of travel. Google has stated in a blog post that this feature is being introduced globally in a phased manner.
Where the Gemini AI model is available, Google Maps users will be able to take advantage of this facility. However, this feature will not be available on the web version but will be limited to Android and iOS devices only.
