ISLAMABAD (Zyad Ali Shah): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed the application submitted by the PTI founder to suspend his sentence in the £190 million case. The court has decided to hold a regular hearing on the main appeals challenging the PTI founder’s sentence.
In this regard, the court has scheduled the appeals for a hearing on May 7. Following the court’s decision, further proceedings in the case will continue during the hearing of the main appeals, where both parties will present their arguments.
After the suspension of the hearing in the 190 million pound case, Bushra Bibi’s lawyer filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court to reschedule the hearing.
The petitioner said that, as per the judicial policy, bail and suspension of sentence applications must be heard on a priority basis.
The petitioner’s case is being unnecessarily put on the back burner and delayed without reason.
Bushri Bibi’s case is not scheduled and is contrary to the Women Protection Act and Supreme Court decisions.
The petitioner appealed to the court to schedule the suspension of sentence application of Bushri Bibi for early hearing while NAB has been made a party in the petition.
Meanwhile, a hearing begins on a petition to ban PTI founder’s X account for sharing anti-state content.
