Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continues to experience a sharp contrast in weather conditions as the province remains divided between intense heat in the plains and intermittent rain in the upper regions.

Southern and central districts, including Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan, are under persistent hot and dry conditions. Daytime temperatures are hovering between 41°C and 46°C, with low humidity and dry winds further increasing the intensity of the heat. Residents are facing difficult daytime conditions, and authorities continue to caution about heat-related health risks, particularly during peak afternoon hours.

In contrast, upper and mountainous areas such as Swat, Dir, Abbottabad, Haripur, and Mansehra have received scattered rainfall and thunderstorms over the past few days. While the rain has provided temporary relief from heat, it has also caused localized disruptions, including water accumulation and brief flooding in some low-lying areas. Weather experts say additional isolated showers may continue in these regions over the coming days.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has maintained alerts due to ongoing risks linked to rising temperatures. Accelerated glacier melt in northern areas is increasing river flow levels, raising concerns about flash floods in streams and valleys. Authorities have also highlighted the possibility of glacial lake outburst floods in vulnerable districts such as Swat, Kohistan, Chitral, and parts of Mansehra.

Overall, the weather outlook suggests continued heatwave conditions in the plains, while upper KP may see intermittent rain activity. Officials are advising the public to remain cautious, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary travel in high-risk flood-prone areas during sudden weather changes.

Headlines from the region reflect the situation, with reports noting that the heatwave continues across southern KP despite scattered rain in the north, while disaster management authorities maintain flood and GLOF alerts for upper districts, and thunderstorms continue to bring brief relief but also localized disruption in hilly areas.
