PESHAWAR: Heavy rainfall across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has left at least two people dead and three others injured, while nine houses have been damaged in rain-related incidents since August 30.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the deceased include a woman and a child. The injured comprise a man, a woman and a child.

The PDMA said that heavy rains have damaged nine houses in the province, out of which five houses were partially damaged while four houses were completely damaged.

Incidents due to rains have been reported in the districts of Buner, Mardan, Mohmand and Shangla.

The PDMA said that it has been keeping close contact with Rescue 1122, district administrations and other departments in relation to this while relief and rescue operations are underway.

The DG of PDMA has advised the citizens not to indulge in unnecessary travel and to avoid visiting sensitive and hazardous tourism spots in view of weather alerts and advisories being issued by the government.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, the EOC has been functioning well. Citizens can contact the toll-free number 1700 in case of any emergency, weather-related information or any help.
