PESHAWAR: A hand grenade was thrown at the residence of Provincial Assembly member Fazal Elahi in Peshawar, police said.
According to officials, the attack caused damage to the gate of the house, but no one was injured. The assailants fled the scene after throwing the grenade.
The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Rahman Baba Police Station on Peshawar Ring Road. Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Provincial Minister Dr. Amjad Ali’s house attacked with a hand grenade
Last month, Unknown persons have attacked the residence of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Minister for Housing Dr. Amjad Ali with a hand grenade.
The incident took place in the Shamuzai area of Swat, causing panic and fear in the entire area. According to police sources, Fortunately, Dr. Amjad Ali and his family were safe at the time of the attack, however, the intensity of the explosion caused partial damage to the wall and exterior of the house.
Talking to the media after the attack, Dr. Amjad Ali adopted a very determined tone. “This attack is a failed attempt to suppress my voice. I will continue to raise my voice against government oppression and fascism at every forum. Such cowardly tactics cannot deter me from speaking my ideology and truth.”
As soon as the incident was reported, a heavy contingent of police and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) reached the spot. The police have collected evidence from the scene and have cordoned off the area and started a search operation.
A case has been registered against unknown persons in the relevant police station. DPO Swat says that all aspects of the incident are being investigated and the help of CCTV cameras is also being taken so that the accused can be arrested as soon as possible.
