ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased the dealer margin on both petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs1.34 per liter.

According to sources, the margin on petrol has been raised from Rs8.64 to Rs9.98 per litre. The same revision has been made for high-speed diesel, with the dealer margin now fixed at Rs9.98 per litre compared to the earlier Rs8.64.

The decision comes as the government also announced a fresh increase in petroleum product prices on the same day. Under the new notification, the price of high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs3.59 per litre and is now set at Rs368.29 per litre, against the previous price of Rs364.70.

Similarly, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs3.81 per litre. After the hike, petrol will now cost Rs341.59 per litre, compared to Rs337.78 earlier. The Ministry of Energy stated that the revision in prices has been carried out by OGRA under the federal government’s revised petroleum pricing mechanism.

With the increase in both the base price and dealer margin, consumers will face higher fuel costs at the pumps, while petrol pump owners will earn a higher margin on each litre sold.
