BANNU: Police arrested four inter-district dacoits after a shootout late Tuesday night in Mandan area of Bannu district.
According to police officials, the suspects were arrested in an injured state and recovered a cache of weapons, stolen motorcycles, and mobile phones from their possessions.
A police team led by SHO Mandan Ismatullah reached the location following receiving a tip-off about dacoits planning a robbery in the area.
Police official said that the suspects opened indiscriminate fire at the police officials, prompting a swift and effective retaliatory response.
Following the exchange of fire, the suspects were arrested in a search operation. The arrested dacoits were identified as Abdullah s/o Qari Ataullah, Jaseem s/o Muhammad Kabil, resident of Hasan Khel Kheraki, Faheem s/o Farmanullah, resident of Taghal Khel Kalan and Khamid Khan s/o Khanbaz Khan, resident of Khojri Khas.
Police official claimed that the arrested suspects are part of an inter-district dacoit gang and were wanted by the police in over 10 cases.

Police also recovered one Kalashnikov, two pistols, one shotgun, three stolen motorcycles and four stolen mobile phones from their possession.
Meanwhile, two members of the dacoit gang managed to flee under the cover of darkness, and a search is underway to arrest them.
